The NZCT Cricket Centre has a retractable roof to create airflow, to control the temperature, and to allow a certain degree of sunlight in.
The centre is climate controlled and automated, which means the desired temperature can be set and confidently left to stay regulated.
There are wind, rain, and temperature gauges on the roof to assess outside weather conditions. Using these tools, the centre can instinctively change its temperature, or close its roof, depending on atmospheric conditions.
The NZCT Cricket Centre measures 50m long by 22m wide.
There’s enough space for 12 grass pitches and a fast bowlers full run-up.
The clay used on all NZCT Cricket Centre pitches is Patumahoe.
There are 4 blocks in the NZCT Cricket Centre. Generally only one is used at a time, on monthly rotation of weeks on, 1 week off.
The NZCT Cricket Centre has played host to all levels, ages and abilities; from school and under age representative teams, to regional and local club sides, right up to high performance professional teams.
