Jacob represented New Zealand, Central Districts, Manawatu and a number of T20 franchises (including Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians) over a professional playing career spanning 17 years.
Since retiring in 2014, Jacob has held coaching roles with the New Zealand ‘A’ team, the New Zealand White Ferns (women’s team), the Central Stags, Manawatu Women’s team, while also offering assistance to various Palmerston North Boys High School teams.
From a business perspective, Jacob runs his own cricket coaching company, manages the NZCT Cricket Centre and is currently working at Massey University in a cricket development role, as well as general sport advancement at the university.
Dave started his groundsman career back in 1993, where he worked for the Palmerston North City Council preparing pitches and ground around the city. In 1999, Dave became head curator of Fitzherbert Park, Manawaroa Park and Ongley Park (which also included the Esplanade). During Dave’s time at Fitzherbert Park, he prepared pitches for first-class fixtures and hosted teams like Central Districts, New Zealand ‘A’, and the NZ Women’s team.
Dave’s playing career is famous in the Manawatu. Dave debuted for Manawatu in 1989 and ended up playing 127 matches for the province. He captained the Manawatu senior men’s team for approximately 8 years, and was part of U-Bix and Fuji-Xerox winning teams on many occasions. Dave also represented Central Districts ‘A’, and the full Central Districts side in 1993.
Dave has worked for the MCA since 2010. He started as the Junior Development Officer, has coached various Manawatu age-group representative sides, and is now the Development & Operations Manager.
From a playing perspective, Dave is currently in the Central Districts Stags squad, and also captains the Manawatu senior representative team. Dave was a part of the Stags successful 2014/15 Ford Trophy team, and also captained Manawatu to successful Hawke Cup challenges/defences in 2013/14/15.
